Richard Bacquié

Richard Baquié’s practice is that of a subtle bricoleur; a profound melancholy emanates from his installations and assemblages of objects and machinery, salvaged from the dumps of his native Marseille.
Words, at least as much as the sculptures he produces, are carriers of meaning and poetry for Richard Baquié. First, there are the titles of his works, both enigmatic and evocative, but also, later, his famous installations that materialize language by being composed of phrases, such as L’Aventure (1987).
